Smoothie bowls are super fun and easily customizable. If made right it's like eating a decadent dessert filled with fresh and nutritious ingredients. The building blocks of a bowl consist of fruits/vegetables, protein, sweetener and add-ins for the crunchy topping. The combination of banana and zucchini is what makes this smoothie super rich and creamy without added fat and carbs. I promise you won't taste the zucchini. I'll be posting a few smoothie bowls this week so stay tuned for more.
Banana Zucchini Smoothie Bowl
Makes 1 serving
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 frozen zucchini*
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup raw baby spinach
1/4 cup vanilla protein powder of choice
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp ground flax seeds
1 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
1/2 peach chopped
Pinch of cinnamon
- Add the almond milk first then the remaining ingredients. If the mixture is too thick to blend add a small amount of water or almond milk just until it comes together. The result will be thicker then a smoothie almost soft ice cream like in texture.
- Pour into a bowl, add toppings and enjoy.
Cut zucchini into large chunks before freezing to blend more efficiently.
